Discover & Define
Due to the short timeline, we needed to get to an MVP solution quickly. To start, I prepared a mini design studio with our CEO, CTO, and Director of Operations. After presenting the problem space, we spent two hours defining our business and user assumptions as well as uncovering internal data relevant to the project. From there, I spent the next week validating our assumptions.
1. Reviewed user personas built based on ten previous interviews
2. Organized five additional user interviews
3. Conducted market research to define areas of opportunity in the space
After collecting all relevant information, I facilitated a different design studio with the same stakeholders. The goal of this meeting was to define and prioritize feature hypotheses to drive the design sprints. Working together at this stage helped to build a shared understanding of the customer, their needs, our proposed solutions, and our definition of success.
Design
We prioritized three feature ideas to solve for different personas and gain data on what direction would be the best long-term solution. I approached this in three separate sprints following the process below through delivery:
1. Designed concept solutions based on feature hypothesis
2. Built prototypes to conduct internal usability tests
3. Present prototypes to the executive team
Deliver
The CTO and I collaborated closely to ship the new features efficiently. I helped communicate the game objective to drive the backend work and delivered design documentation, conducted design reviews, and helped with QA to ensure the front end was accurate and functioning.
1. Collaborate with the CTO to build, refine, and ship products
2. Review data to make improvements and future product decisions
